Home Screen & Slots

The POS home screen shows all active order slots — dine-in tables, takeaways, and deliveries at a glance.

When a cashier logs in, the first screen they see is the Home screen — a live grid of all active order slots. Each slot represents an in-progress or available table, takeaway, or delivery position.

What is a slot?

A slot is a position that holds an in-progress order. Think of it like a table number or a counter position. Each slot has a status:

Slot statusWhat it meansVisual
AvailableEmpty — ready for a new orderShown as an empty card with a "+" icon
ProcessingHas an active order in progressShows order type, item count, and elapsed time
CompletedOrder paid and closedFaded — ready to be cleared

Starting a new order from Home

  1. 1
    Tap an Available slot
A new order is created and linked to this slot. The menu screen opens automatically.
  2. 2
    Select the order type
Choose Dine-In, Takeaway, or Delivery. For dine-in, the slot label shows the table name or number.
  3. 3
    Add items to the order
The menu opens and you can start adding items immediately.

Managing active orders from Home

Processing slots on the Home screen show a live summary — order type, number of items, and how long the order has been open. Tap any Processing slot to:

  • View and edit the current order
  • Add more items
  • Send to kitchen (if not already sent)
  • Charge and close the order

Order types on the Home screen

Dine-In
Table-linked orders. Stay open until the customer asks for the bill. Multiple cashiers can add to the same table.
Takeaway
Quick flow — usually charged at the same time as order entry.
Delivery
Tracked separately in the queue. Includes customer details and delivery address.

Navigation modes

The Cashier POS uses state-based navigation (not URL navigation) — this makes it behave like a native app. There is no browser back button or refresh to worry about. Tapping Home always returns you to the slot grid.

Keep the Home screen tidy — Completed slots should be cleared promptly so Available slots are easy to spot during busy periods.
